Techniqual Examinations of the statuette
date_range 24 September 2018

In this September the Budapest Horse and Rider was examined in the Centre for Energy Research and in the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, using the research reactor neutron beam facilities of the Budapest Neutron Centre. The statuette was analysed with non-destructive neutron tomography (NT), prompt gamma activation imaging (PGAA), time-of-flight neutron diffraction (TOF-ND) and RAMAN spectroscopy in order to gain information of the casting technique and the elemental composition of the bronze alloy, the remains of core inside the object and the patina.
